Winemaker Notes
Capturing the depth and charm of Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, this vintage offers enticing aromas of dark fruit, ripe blueberry, violet, sweet blackberry, and subtle cardamom and clove spice. The palate reveals soft tannins and a powerful, full-bodied structure, with juicy boysenberry and blackberry carrying through a long, ripe finish.
Production
2023 began with a cold, rainy winter that saturated the soils and led to robust canopies. With the cool weather continuing throughout spring, both budbreak and bloom were pushed back by 1-3 weeks in the Alexander Valley. While the season was cool and late, we achieved an excellent berry set and the vines benefitted from extended hang time, which ensured slow, even ripening. A condensed harvest began 2-4 weeks later than normal. Overall, the quality of the grapes was exceptional, with our reds offering inky colors and lush, concentrated flavors, and our whites showing vibrant aromatics and lovely poise and purity.
