The 2022 growing season began with some much-needed winter rain that provided moisture to the soils. A pleasant spring ushered in budbreak, with good spring precipitation leading to rapid canopy development and bloom in mid-May. Our North Coast vineyards benefitted from consistent temperatures throughout summer, which provided ideal conditions for both red and white varietals. The arrival of a significant heat event in early September provided a final push to ripeness, while ensuring beautifully concentrated flavors and a somewhat earlier-than-normal end to harvest.
