Winemaker Notes
Planted in 1975 and featuring a cool northern exposure, Reed Vineyard is always the last to be harvested on Mt. Harlan, producing a wine of exceptional energy and refinement. This vintage opens with captivating aromas of cracked black pepper, ripe cherry, and wild raspberry. On the palate, soft, supple tannins provide structure and depth to flavors of strawberry, black tea, and clove, culminating in a long, elegant finish.
Production
The 2022 vintage from the majestic hills of Mt. Harlan reflects the character of an extraordinary growing season, yielding profoundly robust yet dynamic wines with concentrated flavors and impeccable balance. Despite another year of drought, two much-needed winter rain events brought a total of 12 inches of rainfall, nurturing the vines for an impressive vintage. Moderate spring temperatures ensured ideal budbreak, followed by a summer of abundant sunshine and temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s. These conditions produced wines of remarkable quality, destined to be celebrated for years to come.
