Winemaker Notes
This vivacious blend of Syrah and Grenache draws you in with inviting aromas of ripe plum, pomegranate, raspberry and lilac, with savory undercurrents of bay leaf, cured meat, dried herbs and white pepper adding depth and complexity. On the palate, flavors of juicy cranberry and tart cherry are underscored by energetic acidity and plush, fine-grained tannins, with French oak-inspired hints of brown sugar, allspice and clove adding nuance to a long, satisfying finish.
Production
The 2019 vintage began with a cold, wet winter followed by a cool spring, which resulted in a late budbreak. The cool, consistent weather provided abundant hangtime, ensuring ideal flavor development in the grapes. Yields for our red varieties were slightly above average, and temperate late-season weather allowed for a measured pace to harvest. Across the board, the 2019 wines are bright and balanced with smooth, elegant tannins and lush, vibrant flavors.
