Grown in the rocky soils of our Rector Creek Vineyard, which surrounds the Paraduxx winery, this sumptuous and sophisticated blend balances the wild berry and tobacco leaf elements of Petit Verdot from our prized Block 4, with the raspberry and spice notes of our Rector Creek Zinfandel.

Production Notes

Composition: 54% Petit Verdot, 42% Zinfandel, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon; Oak: 95% French oak, 5% American oak, 60% New oak, 40% Second Vintage

Winemaker Notes

The prized Petit Verdot from Block 4 has yielded a big robust wine, with bold tannins and dark, voluptuous fruit. The nose offers concentrated aromas of black cherry pie, wild berry, mocha and tobacco leaf. On the palate, layers of blueberry and black currant from the Petit Verdot mingle with flavors of raspberry and spice from the Zinfandel.

Production

The 2013 harvest was early, even and excellent, with all of our Estate fruit in the winery by October 10th. A warm dry spring brought an early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. In the weeks after Labor Day, a moderate heat event followed by a period of perfect weather created a dream scenario for end-of-season ripening. Rain was not a factor, and for the second vintage in a row, the quality of the grapes was exceptional throughout Napa Valley.
