Defined by the idea of movement, Migration is dedicated to exploring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the finest cool-climate winegrowing regions to create wines that highlight lush fruit, bright acidity and impeccably balance oak. Established in 1973, Bien Nacido has earned a reputation as one of California’s premier vineyards. Planted in the low-vigor soils of the Santa Maria Valley, the vines face the full force of the wine and fog off the Pacific. The result is a Pinot Noir that balances richness and elegance with blackberry and ripe strawberry flavors underscored by enlivening acidity and notes of green tea and spice.

Wine Profile

Production Notes
Varietal Content: 100% Pinot Noir; Cooperage: 100% French Oak, 40% New Oak, 60% Second Vintage
Winemaker Notes
Ripe raspberry and pomegranate notes jump out of the glass, with undertones of river rock, ground black peppercorn and a pie spice. On the palate, a beam of acidity and mineral-driven hints of slate and limestone underscore vivid flavors of Bing cherry and sweet golden raspberry, carrying the wine to a satisfying and spicy finish.
Production
The 2013 harvest was early, even and excellent with a warm dry spring brought an early bud break and created ideal conditions for flowering and fruit set. In the weeks after Labor Day, a moderate heat event followed by a period of perfect weather created a dream scenario for end-of-season ripening. Rain was not a factor, and for the second vintage in a row, the quality of the grapes was exceptional throughout Russian River Valley.
